Lexi Pierson: Press/Reviews
Local Girl Does Good
With folk-rock release
St. Pete's Lexi Pierson is a folkie with a rock 'n' roll heart. Banging out percussive and melodic grooves on her acoustic guitar, Pierson probes relationships with sensitivity and more than a bit of swagger. A dexterous singer with a distinct touch of twang courtesy of her West Virginia upbringing, Pierson plays hard to get on the sexy ditty "Distracted" and offers Ani DiFranco-style toughness on the kiss-off "It's Over." "Misunderstood" finds Pierson singing from the perspective of a soldier questioning her reasons for fighting "a war within myself and for this government" that speaks to the Iraq war without naming it outright. 3.5 stars
Lexi gave a pre-CD release party performance on WTSP TV's Studio 10 Friday morning. You can check out her performance of "Misunderstood" and "Reasons to Leave" as well as a personal interview.
Raw and honest; Real and powerful...Her songwriting and guitar playing are spot on, but what immediately stands out is her voice, somehow simultaneously strong and delicate, gritty and pure...
"...I find Lexi’s music to be infectious and driven by the heart and life experience. A very melodic performer, her music is a joy to listen to and keeps you wanting more. Her experience in her musical career obviously enabled her to develop a very diverse sound that is straight forward and progressive. With lyrics than one can relate to, her music flows and develops a heart-felt feeling...
Lexi was chosen as a “Women in Music” artist in Indie IN-TUNE because of her undeniable talent and her desire to give her all to others – in her music and in her commitment to her country. Lexi is a woman who is strong yet humble and an inspiration to all following in her footsteps."
